Foldio pictures!

The first pictures taken with my new Foldio2!

The Iron Mother from Warmachine Convergence of Cyriss. My absolutely favorite figure.

A Corollary from Warmachine Convergence of Cyriss.

And finally one of the guys from the 40k Betrayal at Calth.

The pictures are pretty good though I think I need a light for in front just to light up some more.

Alright, till next time!

It's been a long time....

Decided to get posting again!

First up is High Exemplar Gravus from the Protectorate of Menoth by Privateer Press. This is the standing version of this figure and mainly needed some paint updates and fixing. He has seen many battles and was a little chipped up.

Next up, some Wookies from the Star Wars Imperial Assault game.

And lastly, some Hired Guns from the same game.

Alright, I'm going to work on posting here and on Twitter every Miniature Monday.

So, till next time!

Aetherium stuffs

These last two weeks I have been spending most of my time on the figures from the game Aetherium. It was a Kickstarter done by Anvil 8 Games and looks to have a dystopian future setting and two sides that are fighting each other. I've taken to calling the sides 'Rebels' and 'Zealots'.

So far, I've gotten a few of the game markers done and the 'Rebels' ready for paint. Cleaning the figures is still taking a long time so I'm painting one side while I'm finishing cleaning the other.

I'm really liking how everything is turning out with just the few that I've painted. Instead of just going a plain metal route with the machine pieces, I've gone with the same color scheme as the rocks and the green makes the orange and red really stand out.

I will have more of the Aetherium figures for next week, including several people.

Till next time!

Reaper Gnome is done

After several weeks of having the figure sitting on my desk, I finally got to painting the little gnome. She is going to be used is a D&D game where I'm playing a gnome warlock. I made a custom base and painted her separate from it. It's not something that I usually do, but I think I liked how it turned out. She is playable as she is now, but I might go back over her with some red lighting that will come from below the rock.

I was working on the Sedition Wars minis, but I'm taking a break from them to get to some other figures. I'm currently working on the figures from a new game called Aetherium by Anvil 8 Games. It was a Kickstarter and the figures look pretty good. So far I'm not having too many problems cleaning them other than a good bit of oily residue from the release agent. A nice soap bath and a scrub should do the trick.

Till next time!

Myth is finished!

Last week, I managed to finish all of the Myth figures.

These are two of each of the three different orc guys. All in total there are 15 little orc guys.

I really enjoyed doing this guys skin color. It was nice to do something different for once.

This is the mini boss and he is around the same size as the two big orc guys.

This is one of the two big orc guys.

Alright, so Myth is done and now it's onto Sedition Wars!

Till next time!

Myth and Interrogator Chaplain

This past week has been all about the Myth figures and the one Dark Angel figure.

I finally managed to finish the Dark Vengeance Interrogator Chaplain Seraphicus. This guy was an exclusive mini from the Dark Vengeance box that had Dark Angels and Chaos Marines. I really like the way I did the white parts on this mini. I used a nice deep blue for the shadows on the white rather than the grey that I've used before.

Myth Figures! This was the first of the Myth figures that I finished. I decided to get this biggest guy out the way and then work on all the little ones that went with him. A lot of wet blending went into this guy since he was much bigger than the others.

These are two of the little bugs that go with the big guy and so they were painted very similar. These are two of the 15 that were finished.

Also I have one of the two scorpion bugs that were finished as well. I loved painting these guys because of all the blending done right on the figure.

I also have a nice pic of all the Myth figures that were finished this week as well as some others that were started. The three larger guys have had their bases worked on and one has had their skin started.

More Myth figures to come and hopefully my little, gnome who has been sitting on my table all ready to go.

Till next time!

Knight Models Finished!

To go along with the Green Arrow that I finished last week, I now have the other four done. I think that they all turned out great, especially the Bane.

First up is Joker from the comic or the cartoon. There is a Dark Knight Joker, but I've never painted it. This one is closer to the cartoon or maybe even one of the games.

Next up is Bane from the comics. I have painted the Dark Knight Bane, but this one is much bigger and way different.

This is the Dark Knight Rises Batman. He is painted in slightly brown tone rather than straight black/grey or black/blue. The Knight Model Batman line has several different Batman figures and so I figured it would be nice to make them stand apart from each other.

Last one is the Killer Croc. This is another large figure which is even a little bigger than the Comic Book Bane. I love how this skin turned out. It was tons of fun to work on this.

When I was looking for all the finished pics of the other Knight Models, I couldn't find them. I wasn't sure if I had ever posted these to the blog so I figured it would be a good idea to put this up. These are all of the Knight Models that I finished last year. As you can see, there are major differences between the two Batman minis.

Alright, I decided to spend more time on my gnome figure and get the base the way I want it. She is all based, primed, and ready to go. Next up should be the Gnome, Dark Angels, and I'll be starting on the Myth figures.

Till next time!

Some slight changes...

To start out, I've decided that instead of doing my standard WIP post on Wednesday and my finished post on Saturday, that I'm going to post everything to my blog on Saturday and do a Miniature Monday post on Twitter. I've been keeping to my blog a little too much and Twitter hardly at all.

I've also had to halt progress on the Myth figures for right now. They are all ready to go when I get done with a few other things, namely some more Batman Knight Models! I did a ton of these a while ago and loved working on them. Now I have 5 more to get done and I have to say, it's starting out awesome.

The five that I have to work on are Killer Croc, Comic Bane, Dark Knight Rises Batman, Comic Joker, and Green Arrow. After looking over all of them and cleaning them up, the Green Arrow looked like a great place to start.

Like all of the other Knight Models, I kept with the same scheme of the miniatures online. What I liked about working on this one is that I was able to spend a little more time trying to get the contrast the way I wanted to. There are some great highlights and awesome shadows on this guy. I think this mini is gorgeous and he is totally going up on Twitter for miniature Monday.

The other figure that I started to work on this week is the Comic Bane. I've already painted the movie version of Bane, but this guy is way different. He has the Arkham prison pants and those pipes attached to him are totally going to be a super bright green. So far I've got a good bit of him done, but I still have to finish the base painting and then get the major highlights and shadows complete. This guy stands on a 40 mm base so he is pretty big and since he's metal, he's also pretty heavy. I might have to desaturate his skin tone a bit though.

This week coming up are more Knight Models, some Dark Angel guys, and hopefully a little gnome warlock for myself.

Till next time!

WIP not Wednesday

This week has been devoted to finally finishing the Space Hulk miniatures as well as getting the Myth figures all cleaned and ready for paint. Minus a few clean ups and the final coat of spray, the Space Hulk figures are done.

These pics are of the last few Tyranids that need completion. They need a few things finished like the orange lines on the red armor and the black lines on the purity seals. Before I call it finished, each figure will get a final look over to clean up any issues that I find.

Besides these and the Myth figures, I have two Space Marine Chaplains and two Reaper figures that I am working on. I should have some pictures of everything for Saturday.

Till next time!

All the Librarians done...

The post for today is all about the two Space Marine Librarians that I managed to get finished. The first guy is the Librarian from the Space Hulk box. He goes with a bunch of Blood Angels and so I kept most of the colors from them. I think he turned out awesome!

The second Librarian is Turmiel from the Dark Vengence box. This one is almost done as I have to put the lines on the purity seals and then one last spray to seal it in.

After these guys, I've been working on finishing the Space Hulk box and I have Blood Angel parts on 8 of the Tyranids to get done. Then it will be done!

Till next time!

New Project WIP

Last week and the weekend was a crazy time. I spent so much of it trying to finish the Star Wars figures that I was unable to get any pictures of the final pieces before I had to hand them in. I also really didn't have anything to show for Sunday so I was forced to delay my post till today. I was going to have so much more to post today, but an issue popped up that prevented me from doing much work.

I've started a new project, the miniatures from the board game Myth and earlier today I took several of them to get primed. This was after cleaning mold lines and basing. I decided to use an airbrush and some paint on primer to make the job faster, but as soon as I started to spray I realized that I had a problem. The primer started to bead on the plastic miniature. All progress was stopped and all the figures had to be soaked in soapy water and scrubbed to get whatever release agent was still left on the plastic. I usually don't have many problems with residue on plastic minis (other than the occasional Reaper Bones), but these obviously had some so all 41 figures had to be cleaned. As such I don't have any of them painted.

This is one of the last figures of the Space Hulk set that needs to be finished. There are a few Blood Angel pieces on the Tyranids that need to be worked on, but other than that, I just have this guy. I believe that he is the librarian for the Blood Angel group and I'm hoping to get him done this week.

The other figure that I have started is another librarian, this time a Dark Angel one from the Dark Vengeance box. I started this guy by airbrushing the sand color of the cloak. I will probably try some more airbrush on the cloak when I prime the Myth figures tomorrow.

Till next time!

New Post on Sunday

This is such a crazy week that I've decided to hold off on updating till Sunday. I want to spend as much time getting stuff done as I can and Sunday will be a big picture update. I will have all the Imperial Assault figures done by then and possibly some work done on another couple minis, but for now, back to work!

Till next time!

Imperial Assault: A Stormtrooper is done!

I've been working on these awesome Imperial Assault figures all week and finally managed to get all of them cleaned, primed, and ready for next weeks painting!

The first figure finished painted from the set is one of the 9 Stormtroopers. You wouldn't think that a white figure would take much time, but surprisingly it did. This guy used 4 paints, 1 wash, and some Flow Aid. The first layer was Citadel Pallid Wych Flesh over the entire figure. This is a slightly warm off white and came out really nice as the base. Over that I mixed Vallejo Medium Sea Grey, the Flow Aid, and water together and basically did a thinned down paint wash over the figure. I then painted Vallejo German Grey in the eye sockets and in the gaps between armor plates. After that I  took Secret Weapon Wash Heavy Body Black and picked out certain areas to darken, such as around the helmet, belt, and gun area. Finally some Vallejo White was used to highlight all the armor plates. A lot of work just for some white. I kept the base simple with just some P3 Ironhull Grey.

Here are all the minis set up in a group (minus the painted guy) and you can see all the different primers used here. I started with the grey and halfway through, the can decided to clog up. Instead of waiting till I could get a new can I switched to the black for Darth Vader, the Imperial Guards, the Imperial Commanders, and the Trandoshans. Then to finish it off, I primed Rebel Luke and the Stormtroopers in white. It all seemed to come together in the end and I was actually glad for the problem.

For next week I have a ton of painting to do. Lots of Star Wars stuff needs to be done and I'm also going to be working on some Space Marine guys. I have a Chaplain and a Librarian to get done.

Till next time!

Imperial Assault Begins!

The update today is pretty short, but it is the beginning of a new project and so things start out slow. I have a new project called Imperial Assault. It's a Star Wars table top game that has some amazing figures. The sculpts are pretty great and fairly tight for the most part. After cleaning several of them, I can already see a few issues that I have with the material itself  as well as the construction and placements of the mold lines.

The plastic used is pretty decent though it has a feel of some other plastic mixes, like the Privateer Press stuff. This means that cleaning the figures is a little bit of a pain and takes longer. Scraping with the x-acto knife doesn't really work and cutting the mold lines sometimes will not remove the plastic, but cause it to stick to the figure.

The fact that these figures come pre-constructed is great for people who want to take the figures out of the box and play right away. The only thing that needs constructed is the larger AT-ST walker. The problem with the pre-construction comes when you are trying to clean the miniatures. The mold lines are in hard to reach places and the chance of cutting something else is high.

The mold lines. I've seen worse on other figures, but these aren't the best. Some of them are alright and they tried to keep them in areas that wouldn't show as much. Others are over important detail to the character and on noticeable parts that can't be hidden. In fact the one crouched female figure in the image down below had a mold line run along the side of her face right next to her hair. Just a millimeter or two over would have put it in a much better spot.

Every set of minis has their problems and sometimes they out weigh the good parts, but not in this case. Yes, there are crazy mold lines and yes, the fact that the figures come pre-constructed is a little irritating to someone like me trying to clean them, but I would still say these minis are great.

More to come Saturday!

Till next time!

Late Update... It's all finished!

After three weeks I finally finished all the Shadows of Brimstone figures. This post is very picture heavy as I had to take pictures of everything today. All of the figures that I have up today are ones that I didn't have final pics of before or just finished this week.

First up is the big bad guy from the Shadows of Brimstone: Cities of the Ancients box. Like most of the other figures, I kept with the box art and I think he turned out awesome! He is a pretty big figure and while there were some issues with gaps when I put him together, he still was fun to work with.

This is the big bad guy from the Shadows of Brimstone: Swamps of Death box. This model is bigger than the other large model and was pretty hard to get a decent picture. He has these great big wings that keep me from getting a good overall shot of him so I figured that a good close shot was going to be alright. I kept with the box art as much as I could with this guy, but I switched the shading and overall feel to more blue than the yellow of the other one. The color schemes for both were just to similar that they needed a change.

All of the other monsters above have been shown in some of the WIP shots.

The people miniatures are the rest of the player characters besides the two that were finished first.

All in all, I enjoyed working on all of these models. There is a good variety of monsters and people in this game to make it look like it would be fun to play.

For next week, I should have more stuff coming out and maybe some Games Workshop Ogres cleaned for priming.

Till next time!
